HOLLY BRODIE Holly Brodie studied English Language and Literature at Oxford University and she graduated in 2001. She tried to explore connections between her studies and art. She is a self-taught, she developed her painting style, influenced by literature, independently, without any formal art training. She mainly works with imagination and uses little preparatory material. Her painting is dictated by an organic, narrative approach. Holly starts with an idea and embellishes the central plot of a painting as it progresses. Overcoming the inevitable challenges this involves in terms of composition is a valuable part of the development process. Holly’s work has been exhibited at the Mall Galleries, the Royal Academy, Somerset House and the Royal West of England Academy. She won The Winsor & Newton Painting Award at the Royal Society of British Artists Annual Exhibition 2014. |
