Sopho Chkhikvadze was born in Tbilisi, Georgia. She studied art at the Nikoladze Art College, before going on to complete a masters degree at the Tbilisi State Academy of Art.

Her work has a unique character to it, a somewhat naïve style that evokes an emotional response in the viewer. The canvases are predominantly portraits with a degree of comic distortion and an almost ‘Rubinesque’ quality about them. ‘The Yellow Car’ is a wonderful conversation piece, depicting a woman in the driving seat who stubbornly ignores the appeals of her husband.

Sopho’s works are held in the Moscow Modern Art Museum, Muzeum Montanelli as well as in private collections all over Europe.
