VINCENT DAFFON Vincent Daffon was born in 1949 in Oporto, the north of Portugal. He graduated from Soares dos Reis Art School. He undertook a thorough and methodical study of the life and works of the old masters of the Renaissance and the classics. In the early 70s he left to Africa where he found a huge polychromatic human workshop that built him and gave him a comprehension of the human behavior. It helped him to understand the expanding European unity of people with different creeds, races and religions. He was teaching the drawing at the Matthew Samson Mutemba School in Beira, Mozambique. By invitation of King Sobhuza l, he stayed at the Royal Palace of Lobamba, Swaziland, where he painted the portraits of some members of the Royal family. The government of Swaziland honoured his works. In Johannesburg, South Africa he taught at the Academy of Arts. His works were bought there to private collections and he performed there several stained glass windows and several ceramic murals around the city. Back in Portugal he made the exhibitions under the names of Ages of Time and Pregnant Spaces. catalogue (issuu) |
