HAY HILL GALLERY
35 Baker Street, London W1U 8EN

Hay Hill Gallery’s latest exhibition features two artists from opposite ends of the style spectrum: From Will Martyr’s measured architectural lines, to Maurizio Camatta’s bright dust explosions.

Will Martyr
'Stay Untill Tomorrow'
Exhibition: 23 June - 19 July 2014
Private View: Tuesday 24th June 2014, 6pm - 8pm

Martyr’s ‘Stay Until Tomorrow’ is a romantic take on his usual clean, modernist style. The new compositions allow a sense of voyeuristic excitement, facilitated by the fact that there are no figures present. These utopian views conjure a timeless elegance and nostalgia, as Martyr marries together found images with remembered places. We find that these familiar settings are soft-focus templates for the mnemonic, at once heightening and embellishing reality. Immensely popular, the works offer the ideal combination of stylish aesthetic, soulful contemplation and technical brilliance.

Maurizio Camatta
'Electrical Storms'
Exhibition: 23 June - 19 July 2014
Private View: Tuesday 24th June 2014, 6pm - 8pm

Maurizio Camatta’s ‘Electrical Storms’ provide a heady contrast. There are fireworks imploding in the damp fog; stars bursting or dissolving into Northern Lights; games of volumes and signs; contrasts and bright chromaticisms- but look closer and see a sinister order to the ‘chaos’. Camatta’s style may appear wildly haphazard, but every shade and overlap is engineered to achieve the emotional response. His expressive art is pure science: The paintings do not end in the traditional sense, but are designed to resonate with the viewer long after.

The exhibition will be held alongside a sculpture collection which features works by Eleanor Cardozo, Nicola Godden, Richard L.Minns, Andy Cheese, Jamie McCartney, Ian Edwards, Gianfranco Meggiato, Alfonso & Massimiliano Cacchiarelli Principi, Oleg Prokofiev and Palolo Valdés.
