CLASSICAL MYTHOLOGY
Athena (Roman Minerva), the Warrior Goddess, sprang fully formed in full armour from her father Zeus’ (Roman Jupiter) head, brandishing her famous golden spear and golden shield.  A matching golden helmet was on her head. The young goddess stood side by side with her father during the Battle of the Giants.  A virgin goddess like Diana, Athena was the goddess of war and the goddess of wisdom. Although she was the goddess of war, she was not warlike and only engaged in battles (which she always won) as a last resort.

ARTIST’S INTERPRETATION
“Thanks to your patronage and support, my Limited Edition of Diana, Goddess Of The Hunt is all sold out. There are no more I can offer anyone. For those of you who own one of my Dianas, it is my pleasure to tell you that your Diana is now worth over 2 to 3 times what you originally paid for it. The trading is now on the Secondary Market”

“So in response to many requests for another beautiful, athletic, erotic nude, I present Athena: Warrior Goddess.”

“Athena is balanced on the limb of a tree, her long hair flowing in the wind, golden shield in hand. She leans back on her right leg to get maximum power as she prepares to throw her legendary golden spear. Her left leg is stretched out for balance, resembling that of a ballet dancer. She has discarded her golden Helmet on the ground so she will have freedom of movement.”

“My aim is for my Athena to convey strength, determination, maximum movement. A superb female athlete displaying physical perfection, yet beautiful, graceful, feminine and erotic.”

“Enjoy.”

DESCRIPTION OF SCULPTURE
At the height of his creative powers, Richard again illustrates his knowledge of anatomy with his knowledge and appreciation of the female nude.

Richard has created a supreme female athlete with a body reflecting physical excellence, capable of throwing her long heavy golden spear further and with more power than any man. Yet she is beautiful, graceful, feminine and extremely erotic.

Her outstretched left leg is the leg of the most beautiful ballet dancer.

Notice the delicacy of the way her breasts are curved, with such gentleness in the curves flowing out to the nipples, the firm flesh below the breasts swelling slightly around her muscular belly and then curving back into the pubic area. Her long legs, starting with firm perfect thighs, reflect the perfection of her legs. Note her beautiful back and luscious firm buttocks.

The patination of the bronze is in Classic Rodin Style: first, a rich brown undercoating and then a black overcoating, so when the light dances on the sculpture the brown undercoating shows through.

The gold shield, spear and helmet (which is cast in brass and then highly polished) gives a wonderful contrast to the rich patination of the bronze figure.
