This "Eve" is the second version of the composition; it was executed after the model for the first version, Adele Abruzzeti, left Rodin's employment in 1883. Rodin's new "Eve" was more slender than Adele.

Other changes in the form include a more pronounced flexing of the left leg and more refined modelling of the thighs and torso.

This version of "Eve" became one of Rodin's most popular works. He issued examples in plaster and bronze (with at least two base forms), as well as marble versions.
