AUGUSTE RODIN Dance Movement "E" Bronze, 35 cm (13 3/4 inches), conceived in 1910
The pose of the dancer with right leg back and left arm extended above the head is a position taken from the repertoire of classical ballet. Rodin has caught the elegance and extension of the position but has left the anatomy of the dancer fluid and undefined. Like "Dance Movement A," "Dance Movement E" is a complex and formal figure in Rodin's series of dancers. |
